1,073 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Maintenance and Recovery
Location: Jezra's quarters
Timeline: November 1, 2389

It had been a couple days since Jezra had first woken up, and Alex had finally released her to go rest in her quarters. She took an unhurried sonic shower; while part of the care of longer term patients included keeping them clean, it wasn't the same as doing it yourself with restored autonomy. When she was done, she wrapped her fuzzy bath robe around her, and when she exited the bathroom she noticed there was a message for her on her computer. Xalanth wanted to meet when she was available. With a little nod, she responded that she was in her quarters and he could stop by in a few minutes.

It wasn’t long after she had slipped into sweatpants and a loose shirt that her chime alerted her to company. "Come in," Jezra called out as she went to the replicator to make some tea.

Xalanth gave his best smile as his red scaly body stepped through the door. " Hello, my friend. Welcome back to the world of the living." he said politly.

Jezra turned and returned the smile wheb she laid eyes on him. "Can't get rid of me that easily." With a brief chuckle at her own joke, she gestured to the replicator. "Would you like anything?" She shirt she had chosen displayed a print of a cat dramatically shouting while curling a barbell stacked with weights, with a streaked pattern not unlike stars at warp behind it. It was cropped just enough to sit right above the waistband of her sweatpants, and it would certainly expose her stomach if she raised her arms.

" A Coke will be fine. You'll need to ask for a lizard glass for it." Xalanth asked politely.

With a nod, Jezra turned back to the replicator. "One coke in a lizard glass, and one Vulcan spice tea." The two cups materialised, and she picked them up with care before walking over to Xalanth to give him his drink. "Please, make yourself comfortable," she said, gesturing to the sofa. She opted for the single cushioned chair, and curled her legs up underneath her as she sat. "What can I do for you?"

" I was wanting to see if you remember anything about the attack. Trying to piece everything together." The red lizard stated as he took the coke from his friend.

Jezra paused to think. "The last thing I clearly remember was talking with Alex. We had left the holodeck and were discussing the investigation and T'Varel's death. We hadn't been talking for very long. I... do remember starting to feel unwell, and I may have reached out to Alex to alert her that something wasn't right, but that part is still a bit fuzzy."

" Nothing else? Even the slightest detail may help." Added Xalanth.

Jezra felt like she was offering disappointment. "I don't recall us passing by anyone before the attack occurred." Something did occur to her for a few seconds, evidenced by a subtle shift in her features to one of thought. "I'm not sure if it's related, but before I met Remy and Alex in the holodeck I was working on T'Varel's case and noticed some extra access logging. It was all under my name, but some of them were while I remember going to bed. I thought it was a weird computer glitch or something, and I put in a request to Ops and Security to take a look at it."

The lizard let out a sigh. " I received no such message. Looks like the computer mainframe was truly messed up. I'll need you to send over the request again."

Huh, that was odd. Jezra gave him a confused look. "That's strange... the computer confirmed the message went through. I can certainly send it again."

" Please do so. I think our computer has been seriously messed with." The lizard explained.

Jezra nodded, making a mental note. "Any leads on that?" She asked curiously, before taking a sip of her tea. She read about the red alert while catching up on the several days she missed by being in Sickbay.

" Not at the moment. I'm looking into a few leads, but nothing so far." Xalanth replied.

"I suppose I could show you the logs now, since we have the time," Jezra offered with a shrug. She gave him a teasing smile, "got to keep you busy somehow."

"Of course, let's take a look." Xalanth said with a smile

With another quick sip of the tea, Jezra leaned forward to put the mug on the coffee table before standing. She went to the desk in her quarters and activated her computer to bring up the access logs. A look of confusion then crossed her features as she read the results. "This isn't right... those extra access logs are gone."

Xalanth stepped up behind her. His yellow eyes looked at the screen. " If they aren't there, then someone may have deleted them. I'll get engineering on it."

For the briefest of moments, Jezra felt crazy when she stared at the access history. Xalanth's words ar least assured her that they didn't have to consider that verdict just yet. "I'm sure it's straightforward to pull my communicator's location history, but they were definitely while I wasn't in my office. T'Varel's medical file has a Starfleet medical security seal, meaning that the only ones who can access it have to be given that access. At the time, it was myself and the captain." She was skeptical about giving Remy access to the file, especially given her insistence on keeping the meld from the Vulcans, but Jezra kept a list of what was there and checked it each time.

" I believe you." Xalanth said, looking over the data. " When we're in drydock, I'm going to have the techs do a complete reboot and update of the computer systems. "

Jezra gave him a smile. "Let me know if I can help at all. Hopefully it's just a bug."

" I will. Leave it to me we'll get this sorted out." Xalanth replied with a ressuring smile.
