Location: Xalanth’s Quarters
Being the new person onboard Kah’lyn didn’t hardly know anyone as yet, and as much as she hated pestering anyone during downtime she needed to speak to the Chief of Security right away. Arriving outside Xalanth’s quarters she pressed the chime.
Xalanth's eyes opened from where he had been meditating on the floor. His mates were taking the girls to see one of the cities, but he had duty to attend to. Now finished he was meditating until he heard the noise. Standing up, he headed for the door. As it slid open, he gave her a warm smile. "Hello, Lieutenant, what can i do for you?"
“Forgive me for interrupting your shoreleave, Commander.” Kah’lyn offered an apologetic smile. “I have an err… problem that I need your advice on.”
"Of course, come in." Xalanth said as he slid open the door. A wave of heat left the room, which Xalanth turned upon sensing. "Sorry, I have the temperature higher than standard ship levels. Do you want me to lower it?" He explained and then asked.
The inside of the family quarters looked very different from the standard quarters. Many of the standard grey panels were gone and had been replaced with a warm and inviting desert golden colour. Many now held artwork from across the homelands of the strange family from claw paintings of Xalanth's tribal people, Betazoid, human and Vulcan paintings and even manga roman mosaic paintings.
The rather large quarters had been two, with the central bulkhead now having a large oval-shaped table to which the lizard led the way before gesturing to one of the seats. "Please have a seat."
“Thank you,” Kah’lyn smiled politely as she took a seat. “The temperature is tolerable, my Romulan half can cope with it. The reason I came to see you is this...” she handed him a PaDD with all the details. “I made reports to security, these things happen but having my quarters ransacked is a whole new thing for me.”
Xalanth's yellow eyes gazed across the report. Inside, he let out a slight groan. "I humbly apologise that my security team haven't already dealt with this. Have you any idea who has done this and if anything was taken?" He asked.
“Actually it wasn’t your team that happened on the station, but I’ve since had more messages. I just don’t see how it’s skipped to aboard ship.” Kah’lyn sighed. “I’ve never had any problem patients in this way, it must be someone I’ve encountered but I don’t know who. To say I’m afraid this may lead to something worse is an understatement.”
"Well, I'll look into it. Someone like this can't be allowed to get away with this. Now where can we put you that this stalker can't find you. We can put you in the guest quarters in case they have access to the ship's desk listing." The lizard paused as he thought for a second. "We do have the spare room here. You could bunk with us."
Kah’lyn was surprised at that suggestion, but it did have a worry free appeal. “Are you sure? I mean I wouldn’t want to see any trouble brought to your own home.” She paused. “If you think it’s okay I’ll gratefully accept.”
"We have the room, besides, my people consider turning away a guest in need to be a very bad decision," Xalanth said with a warm smile. "As for safety, being near a Dragonian legionnaire, an ex magna roman arena champion and my two mates who are both federation medical personnel makes one rather safe in my books."
Kah’lyn smiled warmly. “It sounds wonderful to me, I’d love to be able to get a good night’s sleep without waking up wondering if I’ll find someone there.”
"Here, let me show it to you." Xalanth said, rising and leading the way down one of the offshoots from the room centre. They passed several rooms, each with a handprint and a sign next to them. They were clearly for his many children. At the end of the corridor was another bedroom with a large circular bed in the centre. Stopping at one of the rooms next to the main room, the lizard pushed aside the curtain. Inside was a room similar to the federation's one-room quarters. A single bed, desk and computer filled the small yet cosy room. "Here we are. I keep it in case any of my mates need some alone time."
“I won’t be depriving them of that alone time will I?” Kah’lyn asked concernedly. “I’d hate to be in the way.”
The security chief let out a low chuckle. "My mates haven't needed some alone time in nearly a year. They will be fine with this arrangement."
“In that case I happily accept, I will endeavour not to get too much in the way of family life.” Kah’lyn grinned.
"Splendid," Xalanth said with a smile. "I'll get someone to bring your stuff over. Could i get a list of your previous patients so i can start looking at possible culprits?"
“Of course.” Kah’lyn nodded. “It’s a fairly lengthy list though I’m afraid, and I’ve never really had this kind of trouble with any one of them.”
"Well, I'll take a look and start narrowing down suspects." The red lizard said with a smile.
“Then I’ll get my list to you as I can.” Kah’lyn smiled. “I’ll need to go to my quarters, and I also have appointments booked.”
"I'll go with you to your quarters. Maybe they left something behind you didn't see," Xalanth added.
“I haven’t unpacked many of my belongings yet, most are still boxed so I should be able to tell if there’s anything that’s missing, or doesn’t belong.”
~ Kah’lyn’s Quarters, a few mins later ~
Walking into her quarters with Xalanth, Kah’lyn paused. “What in the hell?” She stood looking around in disbelief as her clothes and belongings were strewn everywhere, the boxes tossed around the room. “I didn’t leave my quarters like this! How in the hell is this happening onboard ship!?”
Xalanth took a few steps back and felt around the door alarm box. Letting out a sigh, he pulled a black card that had been inserted behind the box. "I must apologise for this Kah'lyn. Starfleet standards have been slipping since the Romulan incident; the computer had the clap, and I'm short on personnel. A second-year cadet could have found this." he said, holding up the card. "Ferengi door splicer. Easy enough for any idiot to use, but they should be easily detectable. Has anything been taken?"
Kah’lyn shrugged her shoulders. “I doubt it, nothing was taken on the station. Whoever this is they seem to be having fun scaring me.”
"Well, best get everything collected and get you back to my home," Xalanth replied as he bent down to help though, as he did, he seemed to pause as if he was thinking about something, but as soon as it had come it passed.
Kah’lyn nodded. “I’ll get what I need it won’t take long.” She paused to pick up a box and put her strewn items in it, she would finish sorting that once all this was cleared up. It didn’t take too long before things were roughly back in their boxes, that done she got what she needed. “Right I think that’s it. I’m ready to go.”
Xalanth offered to take some of the boxes. " Allow me it's the least i can do."
“Thank you, Xalanth,” Kah’lyn smiled warmly handing over a box. “These two will do, I don’t need everything right now. Hopefully we’ll get whoever this is soon.”
Xalanth nodded and took one of the boxes. As they stepped outside, he smiled at the two characters approaching them. T'para and Leilani both wearing gym gear in matching colours of their department, approached. "Did you find anything?" Fulvia asked.
“Just a mess,” Kah’lyn added with a sigh. “I wish I knew who was doing this.”
"I'll take a look around your apartment and see if they left anything you and Xalanth missed," Fulvia said, heading through the door, though she stopped and placed a kiss upon Xalanth's head before she did so.
T'para gave Kah'lyn a reassuring smile. " We'll find out who's doing it, Kah'lyn."
Kah’lyn nodded. “Thank you all so much for this.”
"Think nothing of it. Part of a dragonia family honour is are willingness to help friends and strangers." T'para answered with a smile forming on her face.
"My spirit is correct as always," Xalanth added, smiling at his hybrid first.
Kah’lyn smiled warmly. “You are quite the family, and I’m looking forward to getting to know you all better.”
"Well were happy to have you with us till this whole mess is sorted out." T'para replied.
“Thank you T’para.” Kah’lyn smiled warmly before looking to Xalanth. “Let’s get going, the sooner I’m away from this the better.”
