Ghiram observes a holoimage depicting civilians and soldiers during the Romulan invasion, while Vila and Nevan move through the simulation toward Maxun. Inside the memory file, Maxun experiences the perspective of Farik, a soldier severely wounded in battle, and the intense care of his wife and medic, Narisa. Farik struggles with injuries and the fear for his children, while Maxun feels the emotions, sights, and sounds without physical harm. When the simulation ends, Maxun collapses but recovers quickly, finding the rest of the team still entranced in their files. Commander Johansen, Nurse Thivi, and Lieutenant T’lenn monitor vitals, investigate the technology, and discuss potential risks of prolonged exposure. The team evaluates cryo-stasis chambers discovered on the vessel and compares notes, confirming both the immersive nature and potential hazards of the personnel files while preparing for further investigation.
