In a turbolift en route to the Bridge, Dani Harper and Jules Mundy exchange flirtatious words, culminating in Jules’ startling admission that he may be falling in love with her. Shaken, Dani arrives on the Bridge where Captain Johansen briefs them on progress restoring Serenity’s systems and assigns them to assist Lieutenant Taylon and Ensign Moxx with the dakeon crystals powering the alien vessel.

Beaming to the auxiliary bridge, Dani and Jules join Taylon and Rilaxa as they test crystal configurations, discovering polarity and etched markings as keys to proper sequencing. While Rilaxa takes initiative cataloging crystals, Taylon jokes with Dani before reporting a possible morgue-like structure deep in the ship. Mundy orders Medical and Security dispatched.

Growing uneasy, Dani heads alone to Engineering to attempt generator repair, chastising herself for earlier awkwardness with Mundy. Concerned, Jules rushes after her while Taylon and Rilaxa continue crystal testing. The situation highlights both the promise of restoring the Serenity’s systems and the personal tensions simmering among the recovery team.
