Returning from personal leave in Lake Como, Chrysanthe collects her next assignment in Paris when gravity suddenly fails across the vast transit hub. Zero-G disorients her—she clings to a strut to fight nausea—while a raiding team with magnetic boots advances toward an incoming shuttle. Spotting their weapons and bags, she alerts nearby Security and improvises a civilian chain to keep others safe from crossfire. The raiders engage Federation officers and extract under cover of shuttle fire, killing two guards before escaping. Gravity is restored minutes later, leaving casualties and chaos in their wake. Debriefed for her intervention, Chrysanthe returns to Italy, her vacation soured and her resolve hardened—her family’s syndicate has crossed a line, and now she prepares to hunt them down.
