Still damp from the Alcatraz swim, Jean-Baptiste Dorsainvil meets Jacqueline Holder for breakfast at a small terrace café near the Embarcadero. They sit among mismatched mugs and cooling croissants, trying to pretend it’s not a date.

Over coffee and the squawk of gulls, their conversation drifts from teasing to confessional. Jacqueline admits she chases challenges for the thrill of proving the world wrong.
