The shuttle Nostromo launches with Lt. Guevera, Dr. Jackson, Ensign Harper, Mundy, and Tel’im aboard to survey the abandoned alien vessel. En route, Tel’im and Jackson discuss the vessel’s possible 2,000-year-old origins and unusual alloy technology. As the shuttle approaches, Daniel identifies reactive metals around the docking ring resembling those in the recovered bracelets. Without warning, the docking system activates, seizing the shuttle and locking it into place. Guevera briefly loses helm control as the docking sequence completes. On the Astrea, Remy, Vila, and Nash monitor the situation, conducting deep scans and detecting high chroniton activity and anomalous energy emissions. Vila warns the away team to suit up and exercise caution. While Harper and Jackson attempt to trace the energy transfer into the shuttle, Remy halts any attempt to disembark, ordering the away team to hold position and collect data until the Astrea completes its analysis.
