New Chief of Security Appointment

Mission:
Gone, Without Ever Knowing the Way
Location: Ready Room, USS Astrea
Timeline: MD 3 - Afternoon
"So, we're agreed then? If Xalanth accepts the position, we will just move him from Assistant Chief to Chief of Security and Tactical, and hold the Assistant spot open for now?" Remy had the information in her PADD already as she looked to her First and Second Officers for confirmation.
Maxun nodded as he looked back at Remy. "The move makes sense to me, Captain. I'm sure he will do well in the chief position." He then glanced over at Eirly. "Your thoughts?"
Eirly nodded her agreement. "He's going to make a fine Chief, no doubt about it. And I'm sure the Assistant spot will get filled in no time at all." It was still bittersweet to think that she'd only been in his position less than a year ago before she had the same opportunity to move up. "I do have to ask though, can I please be the one to tell him this news?"
The captain looked over at her first officer and smiled. They grow up so fast, she thought to herself. "I don't have a problem with that. Do you?"
Maxun grinned warmly as he shook his head. "Not at all." He then turned his eyes to Eirly as Remy replied.
"Alright then let's get him up here," Remy said with a smile. She hoped he would be happy with the offer. So far it had been a good day for promotions.

Down in the armory, the ship's resident red lizard was going about his daily tasks. Hearing the alert from his combadge he tapped the communicator. =^= On my way, Captain. =^= he said calmly before putting his tools away and handing the duty over to the secondary armoury officer before heading for the turbolift.
It wasn't long before he was stepping inside the ready room. " Reporting for duty captain. " He said politely with his warmest smile.
"Come on in, and have a seat, Lieutenant," Remy said when Xalanth entered. "We have a proposal for you. If you're interested."
" What would it be, Captain? " The red lizard replied as he took the seat.
"Commander Anderson," the captain nodded at Eirly as she took her seat.
Eirly made a noise of clearing her throat before she nodded to the Captain started to talk. "First off, thank you for coming on short notice and secondly, it's been a real pleasure to have you as my Assistant Chief since you came on board. Everyone in the department likes and respects you just as much as I do and after much discussion, we've decided you are the perfect person to fill the now vacant position of Chief Security and Tactical Officer."
She looked at him expectantly with a hopeful smile before realising she forgot to add, "If you would like it, of course. No pressure."
A smile spread over the lizard's face as he heard the offer. " Thank you, for the offer, Commander, and I of course accept. I'll do everything i can to make sure with have the best security department in the fleet." came his reply.
Remy smiled and just sat back for a moment. Eirly had asked for the opportunity and she was content to let them have their moment for the time being.
"I have no doubt about it." Eirly replied with a nod and a grin. "I'm sure we can set up a time to do a handover of everything and then it's officially yours." It was a bittersweet moment for her to pass the baton, so to speak, but it was merely the next logical step for everyone involved.
" I look forward to it, Commander. " The lizard beamed in reply. He couldn't wait to tell his family they'd be so proud.
Eirly turned to Remy and Maxun, "Do either of you have anything you'd like to add to this?"
"I know it's a bit unorthadox to make any major movements in the middle of a major mission like we are now," Remy pointed out. "But, I trust the two of you to figure out how to best transition the department, whether that's now, or over a course of time. You can let Commander Spello know your plan of action once you've determined what is best for the department."
"Absolutely. I'll set up a meeting for tomorrow morning to go over everything, if that's okay with you?" Eirly turned to Xalanth with that question.
"That's fine commander." Xalanth finished. " I won't let you down."
"This is really good news, Lieutenant," the Captain said, finally taking an opportunity say something. "I'm glad that you are accepting this position. I know that it can be a lot to balance, and you are just now getting your family back together, so we appreciate your willingness to step into more responsibility."
Remy nodded as she looked at both Commander Spello and Lt. Commander Andersen. "Now that the crew compliment is starting to fill out, and especially now that our ancillary departments - like our diplomacy division - are starting to take shape, it'll be helpful to hand off the department to you so that Commander Andersen can focus more on command responsibilities."
Maxun nodded in agreement aa he looked at Anderson and Xalanth. "I have no doubt that you'll will do great in the position, Mister Xalanth."
The Captain stood up signalling that business was concluded. "Congratulations, Lieutenant. Feel free to take some time to tell your family before heading back to your duties."
The lizard nodded politely, " Thank you, Captain, i will." he replied, doing his best to hide his excitement.
