Kah’lyn had fortunately had a good night, having rested she was awake and feeling much better as she sat against the raised up head of the biobed eating her breakfast. Now her stalker had been caught she was feeling much happier and relieved that her nightmare was over. She smiled as she saw Jezra across sickbay giving her a wave.

The Trill offered a warm smile as she approached the biobed. It was about an hour before the shift change off of the night crew, so the sickbay lights weren't as harsh. Jezra had been awake and wanted to get an early start for once, but she knew at least part of it was that she had only seen Kah’lyn not too long ago. "You look much better today, Kah’lyn. How are you feeling?"

“A lot better than I was” Kah’lyn answered honestly. “My senses are a little fuzzy, but that’s happened before when I’ve walloped my head. I was glad Xalanth arrived so quickly I don’t know how much longer I’d have had left.”

"Well, you are certainly a fighter!" While at the bed, Jezra took the opportunity to glance at the monitor to check her vitals, giving a content nod. "Fuzzy senses can be expected. It was a pretty solid hit so you may have some amnesia, especially when trying to remember events from the attack." Focusing back on her patient, Jezra added, "because there was a head injury, I'll need to do some basic tests to confirm everything is working."

Kah’lyn nodded. “I understand. To be honest I don’t remember much after falling in the pool. It’s all pretty much a blank right now.”

The door opened as a very happy T'para stepped through the door. "Sister, I'm glad to see you're awake."

Kah’lyn smiled as she looked towards T’para. “Am I glad to see you. Is Xalanth alright?”

" No, he's been seeing the ship's JAG officer all night. " T'para replied honestly. " He needs to make sure any of the admirals who are after his hide don't try and slap him with an overly aggressive use-of-force charge."

Kah’lyn’s smile faded somewhat. “Oh no! This is my fault, he was just trying to protect me.” She sighed. “I’ll give a statement, or do whatever I have to do to try and help.”

"It's okay; you just lay back and concentrate on getting better." T'para responded ressuringly.

"Once you are cleared to do so," Jezra interjected. While the two conversed, she'd grabbed a tricorder and a pen light. "If you'll look directly at me, please, I'm going to start with your eyes."

Kah’lyn did as Jezra asked looking towards her so she could check.

Seeing the eye contact, Jezra turned on the pen light. She shined the light briefly at one eye, then the other, then did it a second time each. "Good, pupil dilation is normal. Now please track my finger with your eyes."

Kah’lyn watched the movement her eyes tracking the movement of Jezra’s finger.

Content with the tracking, Jezra nodded to herself. "Good. I have one more for you, then I can do the rest less intrusively. Can you tell me the name of this ship, and where you currently are?"

Kah’lyn nodded. “I’m currently in Sickbay, and the ship is the USS Astrea.” She smiled.

The doors slid open as Xalanth stepped through. His face lit up when he saw Kah'lyn up and about. " My mate. My heart is glad to see you up. " he said, stepping over to her.

Seeing Xalanth step in, and Kah’lyn correctly answer, Jezra was content enough to let them converse. She took a spot near a console to continue her checks.

Kah’lyn’s smile practically shone as she saw Xalanth. “Am I glad to see you!” Her smile faded a little. “I’m sorry if you got into trouble for saving me.”

The red lizard walked over and threw his arms around her, pulling her into a big hug. " No, no trouble, my dear. Not yet any way," he said, giving a tired look.

" Father's wanting him extradited ?" T'para guessed from the look on her red lizard's face.

He nodded. " Yes, my father wants him shipped to dragonian to stand trial along with the black sun pirates who attacked Zola. Knowing starfleet they’re going to blame me for this somehow."

“No they’re not!” Kah’lyn added defiantly. “He was after me you did what you had to do to protect me. In my eyes that makes it as much my responsibility.”

Xalanth gave his new mate a smile as he hugged her again. " It will be alright, my love. Can i take her home Doctor? " He asked, looking over at Jezra.

Kah’lyn looked at Jezra as well hoping she’d say it was alright. Sickbay was fine, but it was also pretty boring.

Raising a brow, Jezra glanced back down at the scans before addressing them. "I don't see a reason to keep her here. There is value in letting recovery happen at home." She gave them both a smile, "I'm prescribing light duty for a couple days but I'd encourage you to just take it easy. If you start to notice anything abnormal, like dizziness, confusion, persistent headaches, or nausea, come to sickbay immediately."

“Understood.” Kah’lyn nodded and smiled as she looked towards Xalanth. She was looking forward to going home and resting there. “Thank you to everyone for all your help.”

Xalanth smiled warmly. " I will, Doctor. Is it possible if i can get my fang blade back. As the humans say, I feel rather naked with it."

Jezra nodded, understanding the desire to keep personal items and how protective people can get with them. "We're finishing the incident reports and can have it sent to your office in an hour, if that's a reasonable compromise? An incident like this usually has an involved weapon be sent to security anyways."

An hour later...

* * * Security Offices * * *

Kah’lyn sat staring through security footage of the corridor outside of her office and her quarters, if the records showed who it was that was trying to get to her she wasn’t seeing it. “I don’t see anyone out of the ordinary…” she paused as she saw movement. “No…it’s just the security officer you assigned to me, he’s checking both my office and quarters.”

"His report did say he was being thorough," Xalanth replied as he held up the reports. " Even though I didn't tell him to. Ensign Arkell's record is spotless, though."

“Maybe he’s just being extra thorough?” Kah’lyn shrugged her shoulders before a glance at the security camera sent a chill up her spine. “Wait… he does look familiar somehow, and I don’t just mean as my security escort. What records do we have on him?”

"All the way from the academy " he said, handing them over. " I can't see anything wrong with them, though records aren't everything. He only transferred here recently, though so i don't know him well."

Kah’lyn looked back at the family details. “Wait. It says here he has a twin brother, it was just the look on the recordings a moment ago it felt familiar….” She paused. “I don’t know him at all, if he was a prior patient I’d know it but he’s still familiar. Maybe it has something to do with his brother. Do Starfleet have records on his family? Can we access them?”

"Let's see." Xalanth said, letting out a few types on the keyboard. An interested look spread out over his face as he looked at the data." His files are classified. Ongoing police investigation."

“Strange, why would his brother be under investigation?” She paused thinking back to when she may have seen Arkell’s face. “Wait…I know now. When I was training there was a patient at Starfleet medical, he wasn’t one of mine but we were shown his case. He was a dangerous man, but that wouldn’t be Arkell, it must have been his brother.”

"I'll ask Fuliva to take a look at the profile, see if she can get into it and find out why it's being locked." Xalanth said, pondering.

Kah’lyn nodded. “Should we ask Arkell or would that not be advisable right now?”

The lizard began clicking his tongue against the side of his throat. "Best leave it for now. My gut is trying to tell me something..."

Kah’lyn nodded. “I leave it to your expertise Imzadi,” She smiled warmly. “I know I’m in safe hands.”

"I'll keep looking to see if i can find anything. I'll see if i can swap your security around." Xalanth said, looking up with a reassuring look on his face.

Kah’lyn nodded. “I don’t mind, I don’t want Arkell to feel he’s done anything wrong. I’ll be extra cautious as well, it’s not just my life to think about anymore.”

"I know." He replied, looking lovingly at his new mate's belly. "If you think anything is wrong, call me at once."

“I will, that’s a promise.” Kah’lyn nodded. “If I didn’t have to work right now I wouldn’t but my workload isn’t going to get any smaller.”

"A shipboard duty never ends. Take care of yourself Imzadi." He added softly.

“I will Imzadi. I’ll see you later.” Kah’lyn smiled warmly.

Xalanth smiled as he watched her go. His heart wanted to run after her. Shield her, guard her, protect her screamed his mind. He was missing something; he just knew it.
