Nash returns with Alexandra settled at school, and the adults discuss Brunel’s condition, genetic uniqueness, and the uncertainty surrounding his illness. Captain Remy arrives with good news: Starfleet has approved Brunel’s asylum and expedited the adoption process, with Remy offering to officiate once he recovers.
Sara and Nash express emotional relief, while Kas affirms the importance of kinship and offers continued support. Brunel is gradually awakened with medication, receiving water and a light meal. As he regains alertness, he emotionally greets Sara and Nash, signing “Mama” and “Papa,” solidifying their familial bond.
Interactions with Kas and Keena follow, allowing Brunel and Keena to communicate through sign language, bridging their cultural and species differences. The adults reinforce the importance of chosen family and the value of nurturing relationships beyond bloodlines, while Brunel experiences comfort, acceptance, and joy in his new family structure.
The scene closes with the adults and children beginning to bond more deeply, laying the foundation for enduring connections of care, support, and cross-cultural friendship.
