Mission: Helping Brunel
On MD 11, during a seemingly normal evening, Brunel collapsed. It was discovered that a combination of a mild allergic reaction and a recent vaccine protocol triggered a time bomb that was already in Brunel's body. His genetic mutations were more serious than being born mute, and his immune system is attacking his own body.
Years ago, when the Captain was still a science officer she had started a project at Daestrom that could potentially be used toward a cure for Brunel's condition. However, her research along with other similar working medical projects were all shut down and banned as part of the larger synth ban in 2385. Just how far will the crew go and to what lengths, to save Brunel's life.
Sweet Treats, as promised, Part 1
Eirly delivers a carefully prepared assortment of baked goods to Lieutenant Commander Nash Winters and his family, hoping to build rapport and goodwill. What begins as a warm, friendly gesture quickly escalates into a medical emergency when Brunel unexpectedly collapses after sampling the treats.

Brunel suffers a severe reaction after consuming freshly baked pastries brought by Eirly Andersen, prompting an urgent medical response in Sickbay. The Ataran teenager receives immediate treatment, and his guardians, Nash Winters and family, are left to wait anxiously while medical personnel assess his condition and provide care. The incident introduces concerns about Ataran digestive differences, food intolerances, and interactions with prior vaccination protocols.

Brunel regains consciousness after his allergic reaction and illness, allowing him to reconnect with Sara, Nash, and Alexandra. The Ataran boy’s diagnosis reveals deeper immune deficiencies, likely genetic in nature, complicating his adaptation to the new environment. Despite this, the family and medical staff provide reassurance, emotional support, and begin working on a plan for ongoing care.

Dr. Beckett continues close monitoring of Brunel overnight, running advanced scans to track his condition and watching for subtle changes caused by his unique Ataran physiology and genetic mutations. Charlotte finishes her shift, reminding Commander Winters and Sara to care for themselves as well. Meanwhile, Eirly checks in remotely before deciding to visit Sickbay in person to see Brunel and offer support.
