During the flight, Remy explains the mission’s history: five years prior, positronic matrices intended for critical medical research were confiscated by Starfleet following a genetic-warfare threat. Her goal is to retrieve one that may still exist off-grid. Kas offers diplomatic leverage with his people’s clan to gain cooperation, but Remy stresses that honesty about their identities is crucial to avoid jeopardizing the mission.

The team discusses contingencies if they cannot locate Rebecca Lange and highlights Chrys’ role as a backup. Kas activates the shuttle’s unregistered cloaking device and the crew prepares for the challenges ahead, fully aware that they are risking career, legality, and personal safety in order to achieve a critical medical objective.
