Brunel is awakened for his procedure and comforted by his family. The medical team prepares him and explains the procedure in age-appropriate terms. Brunel expresses a desire to regain normal speech, which Malcolm notes will require further discussion after recovery. The family is reassured by Eirly about the professionalism of the medical staff and escorted to the waiting area as Brunel is brought to pre-op. Despite nervousness, Brunel is cooperative, ready for surgery, and the team maintains a calm, supportive environment.
