Welcome to the USS Astrea!

In 2389 Starfleet still hasn’t recovered from one of its darker moments in history. Shame and guilt linger for those who were forced to abandon their assistance with Romulan evacutions ahead of the Hobus supernova. There is still a ban on all synth research and the fleet is still regrouping after the Mars shipyard was destroyed in the synth attack. The USS Astrea was pulled out of retirement and among other updates, refitted with an early version of the slipstream drive. The Astrea’s official assignment is to patrol the Federation worlds along the Romulan neutral zone in the vicinity of the supernova’s impact. Starfleet’s official orders are to maintain security and order, and enforce Federation Law.

However, the Command Staff of the Astrea took their oaths before Starfleet lost its way, and they firmly believe that it will find its way back. Despite its primary mission of security, and its persistent message to stay out of Romulan affairs, the senior staff look for opportunities for their crew to provide humanitarian relief, engage in positive culture exchanges, and experience the wonders of science and exploration. This is not an easy task in the current political climate as there will be roadblocks, including rogue criminal activity, enemy forces gaining power, and internal conflicts within Starfleet.

Mission Status: We are nearing the end of Earth-year 2389 and talks of Vulcan-Romulan Reunification, though widely controversial, began gaining more support as the Romulan Free State struggled in the wake following the Hobus supernova. Accords were to be held on Barisa Prime welcoming those in support of unification to join for open discussion and fellowship. The USS Astrea arrived just a few days ahead of the conference to assist with security and to show Starfleet support.

Despite numerous warnings against her life, prominent Vulcan Ambassador T’Varel insisted on proceeding with her role in the Accords. Shortly after the opening ceremonies the Ambassador was assassinated - collapsing in plain sight, no outward signs of injury, the cause of death remaining a mystery for days. Though soon the crew of the Astrea began to fear that technology from Vulcan’s more destructive and warlike past may have somehow resurfaced, been fine-tuned or reinvented. The race is on to find out who was behind T’Varel’s attack before they claim their next victim.

Captain Johansen also senses a different kind of adversary in fellow Starfleet Captain, Philippe Auvray. Initially his constant, hovering presence seemed like a minor annoyance, but soon she learns he’s watching her – and her crew, apparently under orders from somewhere higher up. A disagreement during the course of the investigation that led her Marine Commander to file a complaint against her trusted First Officer has only exacerbated the situation.

Tensions are high as the crew inches closer towards answers – and potential danger.

We always have room for fellow writers interested in taking their character(s) on a journey in this world by participating in mission assignments and developing their own stories and writing side stories and character developments pieces with other writers. A lot of the writers here keep a fairly fast pace, but we only ask that you be involved with a minimum of two posts per month, so there are opportunities to write a slower place if you choose.

We are an inclusive, LGBTQ friendly group and welcome all players 18 and older. Please join us on Discord to meet other players and learn more about the sim. We are a 2-2-2 18+ Sim in Theta Fleet.

Every month is Pride Month on Astrea where since Day 1, we've strived to make it clear that everyone is welcome, and have always actively advertized a safe place for writers and characters of all spectrums of gender and sexuality identity. But, in the Spirit, I hope you are enjoying the delightful colors on our splash page this month.

I am!

This group of writers is and has always been special, and I hope it continues to be that way. We're pretty large as far as a single ship crew goes, but we'll always make room for more. This year,…

Hello Crew and Curious Passers-By,

I apologize for letting the site collect some dust as of late, but I spent some time doing some spring cleaning today! If you look around you'll see that our Mission Status is up to date as are awards.

For those of us writing in our current mission: Peril at the Unification Accords - the "Notes" section has also been updated. This keeps a brief synopsis of the mission days. You can view (or hide) these notes in any open post as you write by looking toward the top right of your screen. There is…

Mission Update

The USS Astrea has been inside of the Typhon Expanse for almost three days now. Many of you are exhausted. Frustrated from long hours of countering against unexpected issues with the ship's system, working to map out the anomalies with as much precision as possible to protect Astrea against further damage or possible exposure to temporal disturbances, and some of you have been experiencing visions, hallucinations, flashbacks that have been disrupting sleep and causing anxiety and terror.

Our current intelligence suggests that the USS Dalton disappeared from the far side of the Alpha Quadrant and ended up here.…

Mission: Maintenance and Recovery
Posted on Sat Sep 12th, 2026 @ 2:29pm by Master Chief Petty Officer Vashti Rao & Petty Officer 3rd Class Dallas Reese

Master Chief Petty Officer Vashti Rao, Petty Officer 3rd Class Dallas Reese, and Petty Officer 2nd Class Zal Rixi were the last of the Astrea's crew to return to the ship following the volleyball tournament on Amberwash Beach.

The three of them had made their way aboard via the transporter and each was carrying something. Rixi carried the whiteboard under one arm, Dallas had a small cargo container tucked against his hip, and Vashti was marveling at a volleyball in both hands as they continued down the corridor.

The ball had acquired signatures from nearly everyone who had participated in…

Mission: The Audit
Posted on Sat Sep 12th, 2026 @ 1:45pm by Lieutenant Commander Savok & Lieutenant Commander Dante Ambrogio

Lieutenant Commander Savok materialized beneath the mid-afternoon sun in full uniform. The transporter had released him onto the pale sand at the edge of Amberwash Beach nearest the dunes. He stood for a moment, letting the warm salt wind tousle his dark hair.

The sounds of a busy beach greeted his Vulcan ears: shouts and cheers coming from the volleyball courts, a child laughing, and a food vendor calling-out his tasty concoctions from the far northwestern end. Beyond the beach, the ocean went on toward the horizon beneath a sky so blue that the colour almost seemed overly extravagant.

Savok…

Mission: Shadow in the Static
Posted on Sat Sep 12th, 2026 @ 12:57pm by Crewman Emiliano Echevarria & Sub-Lieutenant Osirin Acainus & Lieutenant Commander Eirly Andersen & Josef Forstinger

The ride to Compton was short and mostly silent.

After a good twenty minutes in light traffic, they were now approaching the warehouse Lieutenant Taylor had identified, and it looked like a bad idea that had sprouted legs.

Hank eased the car off the road and let it roll behind a ragged patch of brush and an old shipping container that had rusted down to the colour of dried blood. He killed the engine before they came to a complete stop, and for several seconds nobody said anything.

The warehouse was maybe a hair under a hundred yards away with…

Mission: Maintenance and Recovery
Posted on Fri Sep 11th, 2026 @ 2:40pm by Lieutenant Kah’lyn Chiara & Lieutenant JG T'Para MD

Having woken up after her first night as Xalanth’s newest mate, Kah’lyn was feeling a little worse for wear. Their love making had been pleasant and enjoyable, but she was feeling more tired this morning than ever. Taking a shower to wake herself up she brushed her hair before finally walking out of the bedroom and greeting the trio of sister wives who were there. “Good morning everyone.”

The three of them turned. None of them had dressed for work yet; all were in some state of dressing. T'para gave her a warm smile as she walked over. The hybrid…

Mission: Maintenance and Recovery
Posted on Fri Sep 11th, 2026 @ 2:39pm by Lieutenant Kah’lyn Chiara & Lieutenant Commander Xalanth

Xalanth was in his happy place as he stared at the ceiling. His mates were tucked up against him the heat of their bodies flooding his cold blood.

Kah'lyn his latest was resting on his chest sleeping peacefully. T'para and Leiliani were pressed against his right side with Fulvia on his left.

He could stay like this for hours, but his newest mate had an important date ahead of her. It was her first Kandact session.

Gently running his fingers along her face, he smiled as she tried to wake. “Hello my beloved how are you?" He said softly, trying…
