Welcome to the USS Astrea!
In 2389 Starfleet still hasn’t recovered from one of its darker moments in history. Shame and guilt linger for those who were forced to abandon their assistance with Romulan evacutions ahead of the Hobus supernova. There is still a ban on all synth research and the fleet is still regrouping after the Mars shipyard was destroyed in the synth attack. The USS Astrea was pulled out of retirement and among other updates, refitted with an early version of the slipstream drive. The Astrea’s official assignment is to patrol the Federation worlds along the Romulan neutral zone in the vicinity of the supernova’s impact. Starfleet’s official orders are to maintain security and order, and enforce Federation Law.
However, the Command Staff of the Astrea took their oaths before Starfleet lost its way, and they firmly believe that it will find its way back. Despite its primary mission of security, and its persistent message to stay out of Romulan affairs, the senior staff look for opportunities for their crew to provide humanitarian relief, engage in positive culture exchanges, and experience the wonders of science and exploration. This is not an easy task in the current political climate as there will be roadblocks, including rogue criminal activity, enemy forces gaining power, and internal conflicts within Starfleet.
Mission Status: We are nearing the end of Earth-year 2389 and talks of Vulcan-Romulan Reunification, though widely controversial, began gaining more support as the Romulan Free State struggled in the wake following the Hobus supernova. Accords were to be held on Barisa Prime welcoming those in support of unification to join for open discussion and fellowship. The USS Astrea arrived just a few days ahead of the conference to assist with security and to show Starfleet support.
Despite numerous warnings against her life, prominent Vulcan Ambassador T’Varel insisted on proceeding with her role in the Accords. Shortly after the opening ceremonies the Ambassador was assassinated - collapsing in plain sight, no outward signs of injury, the cause of death remaining a mystery for days. Though soon the crew of the Astrea began to fear that technology from Vulcan’s more destructive and warlike past may have somehow resurfaced, been fine-tuned or reinvented. The race is on to find out who was behind T’Varel’s attack before they claim their next victim.
Captain Johansen also senses a different kind of adversary in fellow Starfleet Captain, Philippe Auvray. Initially his constant, hovering presence seemed like a minor annoyance, but soon she learns he’s watching her – and her crew, apparently under orders from somewhere higher up. A disagreement during the course of the investigation that led her Marine Commander to file a complaint against her trusted First Officer has only exacerbated the situation.
Tensions are high as the crew inches closer towards answers – and potential danger.
We always have room for fellow writers interested in taking their character(s) on a journey in this world by participating in mission assignments and developing their own stories and writing side stories and character developments pieces with other writers. A lot of the writers here keep a fairly fast pace, but we only ask that you be involved with a minimum of two posts per month, so there are opportunities to write a slower place if you choose.
We are an inclusive, LGBTQ friendly group and welcome all players 18 and older. Please join us on Discord to meet other players and learn more about the sim. We are a 2-2-2 18+ Sim in Theta Fleet.

Hello Crew and Curious Passers-By,
I apologize for letting the site collect some dust as of late, but I spent some time doing some spring cleaning today! If you look around you'll see that our Mission Status is up to date as are awards.
For those of us writing in our current mission: Peril at the Unification Accords - the "Notes" section has also been updated. This keeps a brief synopsis of the mission days. You can view (or hide) these notes in any open post as you write by looking toward the top right of your screen. There is…

Mission Update
The USS Astrea has been inside of the Typhon Expanse for almost three days now. Many of you are exhausted. Frustrated from long hours of countering against unexpected issues with the ship's system, working to map out the anomalies with as much precision as possible to protect Astrea against further damage or possible exposure to temporal disturbances, and some of you have been experiencing visions, hallucinations, flashbacks that have been disrupting sleep and causing anxiety and terror.
Our current intelligence suggests that the USS Dalton disappeared from the far side of the Alpha Quadrant and ended up here.…

Hello All,
It is March, which in the Midwest (United States) means that Spring is around the corner, just after False Spring and Second and Third Winters. It's also a time of change. We change our clocks, AND, we're changing websites! While both old and new websites are working now, I would encourage everyone to change your bookmarks, and clear your cache, and update your Astrea page to:
astrea.harperhold.com
I have already updated the site's default email, so you may have noticed more updates going to Spam. If this is undesirable, I believe that once you mark a few of…

Mission: Shadow in the Static
Posted on Mon Mar 16th, 2026 @ 3:30pm by Lieutenant Jean-Baptiste Dorsainvil
The program existed as a firm set of instructions.
Not at all metaphorically. Entirely literal.
Thousands of routines nested inside one another, arranged carefully throughout the USS Astrea's computer core. Environmental simulation modules. Narrative engines. Behavioral trees for non-player characters. Atmospheric generators. Memory scaffolds. Complex probability tables.
It was organized beneath a single designation
HOLOPROGRAM: WEST COAST NOIR Version 1.17-Omicron
Author: Tuno de Castilla-270
The program's function was simple and straightforward.
Construct Los Angeles, California.
Date: April 1944.
Simulate weather patterns. Simulate traffic density. Simulate oil sheen on the harbour water. Simulate cigarette smoke and jazz music. Generate millions of…

Mission: How to See in the Dark
Posted on Sun Mar 15th, 2026 @ 6:34pm by Lieutenant Jean-Baptiste Dorsainvil & Lieutenant JG Sakkar & Commander Irene Seya
A female officer, petite, her strawberry hair pulled back into a bun made her way over to JB. "Get him transported to our sickbay," she ordered. "They are ready. "Where are the others?"
"Lieutenant Holmes led part of Gamma team to the roof--they were taking heavy fire and ordnance," Jean-Baptiste said, stepping aside as two medical officers took charge of the wounded man. "These"--he motioned to the Romulans--"are the captives we freed."
She nodded to JB, "Thanks, we need to get them checked out, see who they are, if they have a home we can get them back to." The…

Mission: How to See in the Dark
Posted on Sun Mar 15th, 2026 @ 6:34pm by Lieutenant Jean-Baptiste Dorsainvil & Lieutenant JG Sakkar & Commander Irene Seya
JB heard the thunder of the fliers before he saw anyone react--the deep, vibrating churn of thrusters lifting off from somewhere near the roof. It passed through the warehouse rafters, knocking dust to the floor. A few of the children flinched; one covered her ears with both hands.
Gamma One moved first. Holmes shouted for two fireteams to break off and take the stairwell to the roof. Their boots hit the floor in a scattered staccato as they sprinted past JB--rifles up and shoulders tight. Each of them no doubt gritting their teeth under their helmets.
"Up the stairs--move!" one…

Mission: Elegy For the Unseen
Posted on Sun Mar 15th, 2026 @ 1:17pm by Ensign Garabed "Garo" Hakobyan & Captain Remy Johansen & Lieutenant Commander Xalanth & Lieutenant Commander Daynah Ral & Commander Maxun Spello
The Observation Lounge felt only half-occupied.
Space stretched in every direction outside the long, angled windows as distant stars streaked past. Inside the room, however, the air seemed to remain heavy on the conference table. Once more, the object of everyone's attention floated there, suspended in its stasis field of blue.
Garo stood nervously at the presentation screen because he had been the one to complete the analysis and Kash was more than happy to remain seated at the table amidst a selection of senior staff--Xalanth, Rixi, Commander Spello, and Captain Johansen.
He tugged once at his uniform jacket, then…
