Welcome to the USS Astrea!

In 2389 Starfleet still hasn’t recovered from one of its darker moments in history. Shame and guilt linger for those who were forced to abandon their assistance with Romulan evacutions ahead of the Hobus supernova. There is still a ban on all synth research and the fleet is still regrouping after the Mars shipyard was destroyed in the synth attack. The USS Astrea was pulled out of retirement and among other updates, refitted with an early version of the slipstream drive. The Astrea’s official assignment is to patrol the Federation worlds along the Romulan neutral zone in the vicinity of the supernova’s impact. Starfleet’s official orders are to maintain security and order, and enforce Federation Law.

However, the Command Staff of the Astrea took their oaths before Starfleet lost its way, and they firmly believe that it will find its way back. Despite its primary mission of security, and its persistent message to stay out of Romulan affairs, the senior staff look for opportunities for their crew to provide humanitarian relief, engage in positive culture exchanges, and experience the wonders of science and exploration. This is not an easy task in the current political climate as there will be roadblocks, including rogue criminal activity, enemy forces gaining power, and internal conflicts within Starfleet.

USS Astrea, a galaxy class refit starship in space

Mission Status: We are nearing the end of Earth-year 2389 and talks of Vulcan-Romulan Reunification, though widely controversial, began gaining more support as the Romulan Free State struggled in the wake following the Hobus supernova. Accords were to be held on Barisa Prime welcoming those in support of unification to join for open discussion and fellowship. The USS Astrea arrived just a few days ahead of the conference to assist with security and to show Starfleet support.

Despite numerous warnings against her life, prominent Vulcan Ambassador T’Varel insisted on proceeding with her role in the Accords. Shortly after the opening ceremonies the Ambassador was assassinated - collapsing in plain sight, no outward signs of injury, the cause of death remaining a mystery for days. Though soon the crew of the Astrea began to fear that technology from Vulcan’s more destructive and warlike past may have somehow resurfaced, been fine-tuned or reinvented. The race is on to find out who was behind T’Varel’s attack before they claim their next victim.

Captain Johansen also senses a different kind of adversary in fellow Starfleet Captain, Philippe Auvray. Initially his constant, hovering presence seemed like a minor annoyance, but soon she learns he’s watching her – and her crew, apparently under orders from somewhere higher up. A disagreement during the course of the investigation that led her Marine Commander to file a complaint against her trusted First Officer has only exacerbated the situation.

Tensions are high as the crew inches closer towards answers – and potential danger.

We always have room for fellow writers interested in taking their character(s) on a journey in this world by participating in mission assignments and developing their own stories and writing side stories and character developments pieces with other writers. A lot of the writers here keep a fairly fast pace, but we only ask that you be involved with a minimum of two posts per month, so there are opportunities to write a slower place if you choose.

We are an inclusive, LGBTQ friendly group and welcome all players 18 and older. Please join us on Discord to meet other players and learn more about the sim. We are a 2-2-2 18+ Sim in Theta Fleet.

Hello Crew and Curious Passers-By,

I apologize for letting the site collect some dust as of late, but I spent some time doing some spring cleaning today! If you look around you'll see that our Mission Status is up to date as are awards.

For those of us writing in our current mission: Peril at the Unification Accords - the "Notes" section has also been updated. This keeps a brief synopsis of the mission days. You can view (or hide) these notes in any open post as you write by looking toward the top right of your screen. There is…

Mission Update

The USS Astrea has been inside of the Typhon Expanse for almost three days now. Many of you are exhausted. Frustrated from long hours of countering against unexpected issues with the ship's system, working to map out the anomalies with as much precision as possible to protect Astrea against further damage or possible exposure to temporal disturbances, and some of you have been experiencing visions, hallucinations, flashbacks that have been disrupting sleep and causing anxiety and terror.

Our current intelligence suggests that the USS Dalton disappeared from the far side of the Alpha Quadrant and ended up here.…

Hello All,

It is March, which in the Midwest (United States) means that Spring is around the corner, just after False Spring and Second and Third Winters. It's also a time of change. We change our clocks, AND, we're changing websites! While both old and new websites are working now, I would encourage everyone to change your bookmarks, and clear your cache, and update your Astrea page to:

astrea.harperhold.com

I have already updated the site's default email, so you may have noticed more updates going to Spam. If this is undesirable, I believe that once you mark a few of…

Mission: Shadow in the Static
Posted on Sat Mar 21st, 2026 @ 9:59pm by Crewman Emiliano Echevarria & Sub-Lieutenant Osirin Acainus & Josef Forstinger & Ensign Luciana Aguila

Hank pulled them into Central Station's lot with ease--which was odd, because he'd never driven a twentieth-century vehicle before. Not only that, but this was a manual transmission--stick shift--and yet, it felt like the program was aiding him. The building itself rose up in pale concrete and glass, squared off and entirely serious. Flags barely moved out front. A pair of uniforms stood smoking near the steps, their laughter cut off upon noticing the car.

Ruthie was the first one to get out of the car, slipping out carefully with her knees kept together and her skirt hem down as…

Mission: Shadow in the Static
Posted on Sat Mar 21st, 2026 @ 9:36pm by Ensign Garabed "Garo" Hakobyan & Lieutenant Commander Ryan Keel & Commander Maxun Spello & Josef Forstinger

Terminal Island never shut down. It just dimmed its lights a little but it kept humming.

The harbour before sunup was all racket and shadow. Cables whining against steel. Ship hulls tick-ticking as the Pacific night air cooled them. Somewhere out in the dark, a buoy clanged steadily like a sloppy drunk with one good idea. The gull were already at it, fighting over everything, and--in the grand scheme of things--absolutely nothing.

Freighters squatted low in the water in their drab Navy grey. Cargo nets were hanging slack like thick spiderwebs. The light from the lamps on the pier pushed…

Mission: Peril at the Unification Accords
Posted on Sat Mar 21st, 2026 @ 9:28pm by Ensign Tenzi Sh'reyva & Josef Forstinger

It had taken some very deep, intricate research for Josef to come across the information he needed, and by that time, he was figuring out how the damned voice-activated computer system worked, and then forgetting Tenzi's name having called her "Bluey"- but after some trial and error, he finally had it. She was on Deck 28!

Taking a quick turbolift ride after cleaning up a bit that is, splashing his face with cold water from the sink and wearing the same clothes he always did, arrived on the deck, taking a step out of the turbolift, trying to seem confident.…

Mission: Peril at the Unification Accords
Posted on Sat Mar 21st, 2026 @ 9:18pm by Captain Philippe Auvray & Major Clay McEntyre III & Lieutenant Commander Ryan Keel & Captain Remy Johansen & Lieutenant Commander Nash Winters & Commander Maxun Spello

Auvray lifted the espresso again. Another quick sip--smaller this time.

"Consequently," Auvray said, replacing the cup back down on the saucer, "this matter is no longer confined to your ship, Captain Remy."

Nash raised his hand like he was back at the Academy. “Uh… excuse me. Nash Winters, Chief Engineer. Can I just say one thing? Her name is Captain Johansen. She should be shown the same respect she afforded you. Captain. That’s it. I’m done.”

Remy tried to give Nash a subtle look. She realized she probably should have warned him about Auvray. The last thing they needed was…

Mission: Peril at the Unification Accords
Posted on Sat Mar 21st, 2026 @ 9:18pm by Captain Philippe Auvray & Major Clay McEntyre III & Lieutenant Commander Ryan Keel & Captain Remy Johansen & Lieutenant Commander Nash Winters & Lieutenant Commander Xalanth & Commander Maxun Spello

Captain Philippe Auvray's molecules were reassembled with his chin already lifted, as if he were beaming onto a stage and not the transporter pad of a Federation starship. He smoothed the front of his uniform once, flattening the imaginary creases over his gut, and his eyes adjusted to the change in light.

For a moment, he said nothing. The gentle whine of the transporter coils faded somewhere off to the side of the room.

Commander Irene Seya stood to his left, still and self-contained. She had impeccable posture--as neat as a drawn line with a ruler. To his right, Vice-Proconsul…
